Commenting on the collapse of Thomas Cook and the UK government’s refusal to rescue the company, Argyll & Bute MP Brendan O’Hara said:

“This will be a very difficult time for staff and customers alike and the priority will be to make sure that people are not stranded, refunds are provided through the travel assurance scheme, and I will make sure employees of Thomas Cook, in Argyll & Bute , get the support they need.

“However, the UK government will need to explain their actions through the course of this painful process – including what they knew about the collapse of Thomas Cook and what they could have done to step in and prevent it.

“Thomas Cook had previously warned that the UK government’s Brexit obsession was causing them problems and it is clear that it has accelerated the difficulties that the company faced.”
