End of a busy, busy day on beautiful Tiree, where there is so much going on. Following a meeting with the local community trust and a constituency advice surgery, I met with Brodie Sim and Jen Skinner at Screen Argyll to hear about the work they are doing to promote all forms of cinema and film in Argyll and to create pathways for local youngsters to find a career in the industry.

After that I headed to meet Frazer McInness at Tiree Lobster & crab, to see his remarkable and world-first seafood vending machine, which dispenses local Lobster, Crab and Langoustine on production of cash or credit card. A fantastic idea that has proven to be amazingly successful.

Tiree is home to some excellent artist, so it was a pleasure to spend some time with renowned jeweller and photographer Dot Sim in her studio. As well as producing some exquisite silver jewellery, I can also confirm that she makes a life-saving cup of tea.

The day ended with a flying visit to the Tiree Heritage centre An Iodhlann. Fascinating insight into the history of the island and its people.

Tomorrow I’ll be on Easdale and Luing and I’ll update again.
