“Fantastic to see Nationwide Building Society using advanced technology to provide Argyll & Bute residents instant financial advice ”JURA1

Brendan O’Hara, Member of Parliament for Argyll and Bute, visited the Nationwide Building Society branch in Oban on Wednesday 31st August. Brendan spent time meeting the team, touring the branch, learning about the services Nationwide offers and experiencing first-hand the latest technology that can help customers manage their finances in a way that suits them.

One of the services Mr O’Hara saw in action at the branch was Nationwide Now, the Society’s high definition video link to Nationwide financial consultants around the country, including an advisor hub in Dunfermline. The facility allows customers to complete mortgage applications and attend financial planning appointments at a time that suits them, without having to wait for an in-branch consultation – underlining Nationwide’s commitment to putting customers’ needs first.

Brendan O’Hara MP, said: ‘I was delighted to have the opportunity to visit Nationwide in Oban. Having access to a national financial provider on the high street, which saves time, is very important for people in a rural constituency such as Argyll & Bute. It is great to see how Nationwide is embracing the latest technology, but at the same time not forgetting the importance of the human touch. “Hopefully, assuming Superfast Broadband is rolled out successfully and on time, this is a service that will act as a role model for the industry and will allow our rural Constituents the same level of advice and service that most in urban areas already have and take for granted. We need to see this industry adapt to its customers; this is a big step in the right direction”.

William Campbell, Oban Nationwide Branch Manager, said: “We were honoured to welcome Brendan O’Hara to our branch in Oban today. With one quarter of all new mortgage applications in the Nationwide branch network now being advised by Nationwide Now, this was a great opportunity for us to showcase the services we’re able to offer. Nationwide is investing £500m in its branch network, which will allow us to continually improve the service we provide.”
