Mr O’Hara said
“I have been in regular dialogue with Cove and Kilcreggan Community Council and made requests to SPT to approach Transport Scotland to discuss a move towards transferring the responsibility for the ferry route to Transport Scotland. I am delighted to hear that they have decided to do this and I am delighted for the Community Council who have worked hard to make this happen. I now look forward to working with the Transport Minister to ensure that this community gets the ferry service they deserve”.2016-08-19_15-43-50
The MP for Argyll and Bute went on to say that
“Along with the introduction of Road Equivalent Tarrifs (RETs) which has led to a significant fall in ferry fares, this is another example of the Scottish Governments commitment to ferry services across Scotland and recognition of the economic and social importance they have on many rural and island communities.”
Transport Scotland have said they will continue to work with SPT and relevant key stakeholders to progress these matters.
